Coherence

Coherence has to the unity of the essay or paragraph. It is achieved when cohesion is achieved. If transitional markers are well implemented in one's essay, then both cohesion and coherence are achieved.


Cohesion

It is a key concept in essay writing, it refers to the hanging together of the parts of the essay and the elements of each single paragraph. Cohesion can be assured through the use of cohesive devices, also called transitional markers.


F

Facts

A fact is a piece of information one can use to support his idea, it may a scientific truth, common knowledge or anything thing that is not arguable.


Funnel

The most common type of introductions. It consists of moving from general to specific aspects of a given topic.


H

hook

An attention capturing expression that is used by the writer to catch the readers' attention and keep their interests in the written text.
