The art of argumentation is not an easy task and so is the choice of an argumentative topic. Since the purpose of an argumentative essay is to win one’s point of view, the writer’s victory depends much on the topic chosen for the essay. To ensure this success, one should choose a topic which is gripping (it should be on the move), debatable (it should be a controversial problem, open for discussion), stimulating and motivating (you should be passionate, enthusiastic and interested in the topic), neither too general nor too limited (it should not be hard to be summarized or too narrow to be developed) and precise (you should use the words that best reveal meaning to your readers).
