The present module introduces students to the realm of literature in general and to the English one in precise terms. Throughout 4lectures designed for 1st year LMD Englsih learners, the module will cover the basics of literary writings needed for the first semester. Starting from the definition of literature, to a brief chronological overview of English literature, and ending in introducing its major genres and most pertinent literary techniques and elements. All these lectures will also include a practical part with activities and test, through which learners will give an account of their understanding along with a feedback of the necessary learning strategies
