The third year written expression syllabus is divided mainly into four units; each one deals with one type of essay writing. Unit one 'Narration' deals with how to write narrative essays; it provide theoretical insights about the structure of the narrative essay and the main tips to follow in order to succeed in writing it. Moreover, the second unit that is 'Description' explains what do we mean by a descriptive essay and what are its main parts. It also includes the different types of description mainly description of people, objects or places. In addition to this, the third unit entitled 'Exposition' tackles the expository essay development. It is made up of five major subdivisions that are definition, process essay, classification, cause/effect essay and compare/contrast essay. However, the last unit 'Argumentation' is about argumentative essay writing. It shows how an argumentative essay defends a point of view through using arguments of different types such as facts, scientific truth, statistics...etc.
