1. Concluding an Essay
Just as the introductory paragraph functions to open up the essay, the concluding paragraph brings the development to a logical end. The conclusion is the last opportunity (end) to tell your reader. It usually
- restates the thesis statement in different words;
- summarizes the main ideas (in the body);
- adds a final thought to encourage the reader to think further about the topic.
Important to note, the concluding paragraph should be shorter in size compared to the introductory paragraph. Furthermore, it should not introduce a new topic or something irrelevant to the central idea.
