General Objective:

Upon completion of the sports nutrition module, the learner will be able to comprehend and apply fundamental nutritional principles to enhance athletic performance and overall well-being.

Specific Objectives :

  1. To recognize the significance of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats) and their roles in energy production, growth, and repair in athletes.
  2. To analyze individual requirements for caloric intake and macronutrients based on the type, intensity, and duration of physical activity, as well as individual characteristics.
  3. To design balanced and appropriate nutritional plans for various training phases and athletic competitions.
  4. To understand the role of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) in vital bodily functions and athletic performance.
  5. To elucidate the importance of adequate hydration and the impact of dehydration on athletic performance and health.
  6. To differentiate between common types of dietary supplements and evaluate their effectiveness and potential risks.
  7. To implement optimal nutritional strategies before, during, and after exercise or competition to improve performance and recovery.
  8. To recognize the influence of specific health conditions (such as food allergies or chronic diseases) on sports nutrition.
  9. To critically evaluate nutritional information related to sports and be able to distinguish between myths and scientific facts.
