Objectives
By the end of this Unit, students will be able to:
- Understand the fundamental principles of academic integrity in educational contexts
- Recognise the ethical implications of intellectual property use in teaching
Knowledge Acquisition
- Define academic integrity using the six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage
- Identify at least three different forms of academic dishonesty commonly encountered in higher education
Analytical Skills
- Analyse a case study involving academic misconduct in a language teaching context
- Distinguish between copyright infringement and fair use in educational settings
Practical Application
- Apply fair use principles to evaluate the appropriate use of copy-righted materials in a language lesson
- Develop one classroom activity that promotes academic integrity awareness
Critical Reflection
- Reflect on personal responsibilities in upholding academic integrity as future language educators
