Students will be able to design and construct a coherent dissertation project in Literature or Civilization, integrating appropriate research methodologies, scholarly sources, critical analysis, and academic writing conventions.

Specific Objectives: 

By the end of the module, students will be able to:

• Explain the purpose, structure, and stages of a Master’s dissertation.
• Identify and refine a research interest into a focused and manageable research topic.
• Formulate clear, focused, and researchable research questions.
• Develop a coherent and arguable thesis statement.
• Conduct a critical literature review using relevant scholarly sources.
• Select appropriate research methods and define the scope of the study.
• Analyze literary, cultural, and scholarly materials using appropriate critical approaches.
• Construct coherent academic arguments supported by relevant evidence.
• Apply appropriate academic writing, citation, and referencing conventions.
• Evaluate and revise their written work through self-assessment and peer feedback.
• Present their dissertation project clearly and respond appropriately to questions during an oral presentation.
• Demonstrate academic integrity and responsible research practices throughout the dissertation process.
