This course is designed to develop students’ basic listening and speaking skills in English through structured, communicative activities. It focuses on enabling learners to understand spoken English in everyday and academic contexts and to express themselves clearly and appropriately in different social situations.

The course begins with training students to introduce themselves and others by first recognizing key information in recorded introductions and then reproducing the same structure orally. Learners next explore different reasons for choosing English, where they listen for speakers’ motivations and emotions before expressing their own attitudes and personal goals.

A central component of the course is helping students express ideas and opinions clearly. Special attention is given to stress, rhythm, and intonation through language-lab listening tasks, which students later apply in classroom speaking activities. Students are also trained to use language for various social functions by interpreting context and implied meaning in spoken texts and selecting appropriate expressions for different communicative situations.

The course further introduces formal spoken interactions such as meetings and interviews. Students analyze authentic recordings to identify formal and semi-formal expressions and then practice them through structured role-plays and interview simulations.

Finally, students develop their ability to describe and compare people, places, and habits. They learn to identify main ideas in spoken texts and use relevant vocabulary and grammatical structures to produce accurate oral descriptions and comparisons.

Overall, the course aims to build learners’ confidence, pronunciation accuracy, and communicative competence in English by integrating listening comprehension with guided speaking practice.
