Argumentation

The argumentative essay is a genre of writing that requires the student to investigate a topic; collect, generate, and evaluate evidence; and establish a position on the topic in a concise manner.

Body

The second part of an essay. it combines the developmental paragraphs that elaborate, in detail, on the thesis statement. each developmental paragraph should discuss one subtopic.

Concluding sentence

Concluding sentences have three crucial roles in paragraph writing. They draw together the information you have presented to elaborate your controlling idea by: summarising the points you have made. repeating words or phrases (or synonyms for them) from the topic sentence.

Description

Descriptive writing is a literary device in which the author uses details to paint a picture with their words. This process will provide readers with descriptions of people, places, objects, and events through the use of suitable details.

a group of paragraphs combined together to discuss a particular topic.


Exposition

The expository essay is a genre of essay that requires the student to investigate an idea, evaluate evidence, expound on the idea, and set forth an argument concerning that idea in a clear and concise manner.

Narration

A narrative essay is a type of essay that has a single motif, or a central point, around which the whole narrative revolves. All incidents, happenings, and characters revolve around a single motif presented in the narrative. A narrative essay is similar to a simple five-paragraph essay, in that it has the same format.

Subtopic

The subtopic of an essay is a topic that supports the main topic of the essay and helps to bolster its credibility.


Supporting Details

paragraph contains facts, statements, examples-specifics which guide us to a full understanding of the main idea. They clarify, illuminate, explain, describe, expand and illustrate the main idea and are supporting details

Topic Sentence

An opening sentence at the beginning of each developmental paragraph that indicates the main idea of the paragraph (the aspect to be discussed)
