Welcome to Media and Communication in English. This course treats the language of the media as a structured, systematic object of linguistic study. Rather than simply consuming media texts, you will develop the analytical tools to decode them: examining how journalists frame events through deliberate lexical and syntactic choices, how copywriters engineer persuasion through morphological innovation and strategic ambiguity, and how digital platforms have generated entirely new linguistic forms and registers. By the end of the course, you will be able to produce a rigorous critical analysis of any media text — identifying not just what it says, but how it says it, and why.
