    • This a course that targets third year students of English at department of English language Setif 2 University. It was designed by Dr Haddaoui Soumia who has been teaching the module since 2021. 

  • SECTION 1: A BRIEF HISTORY

    • As a common knowledge, any new language teaching theory depends on linguistic theory. Up until recently, the linguistics theories have faced three important phases; traditional grammar, structuralism and functionalism. There is a connection between these three methods and they are responsible for the transformation of language teaching theories.

  • SECTION 2: STRUCTURALISM

    • The structuralist approach to learning spans across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including sociology, anthropology and language learning. The principles of structuralism are rooted in the theory that any major concepts within a discipline all fit together in a meaningful way.
