This course aims at providing second-year BA students with deep overviews of the history of modern linguistics and its various approaches conducted in linguistic analysis in the 20th century. Pursuing a chorological sequence, the course does not only highlight the weaknesses, strengths, and discrepancies between the various approaches, but also underlines the major innovations brought about by each approach.
