This course is delivered to Master 2 Anglo Saxon Literature and Civilization students. It introduces them to the field of postcolonial studies and aims at understanding its relationship to the four traditions of thought: poststructuralism, Marxism, Feminism and Psychoanalysis. It investigates the development of postcolonial theory from the beginning of the twentieth century to recent updates.  The critique and interpretation of literary works in such areas will be conducted against the specific contextual elements from which they emerge. The far-reaching concern is to lay out the possibilities of cultural decolonization and subversion of the imperial hegemony adding to the non-violent efforts of accepting cultural difference.
