By the end of this module, students would be able to:

Analyse the main concepts in ‘Second Language Acquisition’ (SLA) Research.

4/ To explain Interlanguage (IL).

5/ To illustrate the relationship between individual differences (IDs).

6/ To discuss the relationship between the language classroom and SLA.

7/ To analyse teachers’ contribution to classroom discourse and its effect on SLA.

8/ To discuss learners’ contribution to classroom discourse and its impact on SLA.

9/ To analyse the role of formal instruction in SLA.

10/ To discuss the durability of Form-Focused Instruction (FFI) effects.

11/ To analyse cognitive accounts and SLA.

12/ To illustrate the cognitive accounts of second language production.

13/ To analyse tasks as an aspect of the sociocultural theory of SLA.

14/ To analyse the neuropsychology of SLA: strategy instruction (SI)
