Based on the document, the "Comprehension and Written Expression" module is a fundamental course for first-year English majors that runs for 15 weeks (45 hours total) with 3 hours of instruction per week. The course aims to develop students' ability to produce coherent texts by enhancing their textual, meta-textual, and linguistic knowledge through reading various text types. It focuses on building essential reading and writing skills, including identifying literal and inferential meaning. The curriculum covers parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, verbs, etc.) and sentence structure (subjects, predicates, phrases, and clauses), progressing systematically from word-level knowledge to complex sentence construction. Assessment consists of both summative (50% written quiz) and continuous evaluation (50% homework, participation, and attendance), with Dr. Hanane Bennouioua as the instructor.
