Abstract: 

This module on Postcolonial Literature examines the narratives emerging from former colonies, focusing on how literature addresses and critiques the legacy of colonialism and its influence on identity, culture, and power structures. Students will engage with seminal texts from America, UK, and beyond to analyze themes such as resistance, hybridity, and cultural reclamation.

They are enitled : to develop a critical understanding of postcolonial theory as it applies to literature, to explore how authors from colonized regions reshape language and literary forms to articulate their unique perspectives, and to foster an appreciation of the diverse cultural expressions within postcolonial contexts. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify key characteristics of postcolonial literature, critically analyze texts through a postcolonial lens, and articulate how literature serves as a form of resistance and identity formation.
