General Aim

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  •       Critically analyse and deconstruct literary texts influenced by colonialism pertaining to diverse voices and perspectives that challenge the hegemony of the imperialist discourse.

Specific Aims

  1. To demonstrate a comprehensive insight of the origins, aspects and scope of postcolonial theory.
  2. To evaluate the chronological evolution of postcolonial theory.
  3. To analyse the relationship between narration and representation.
  4. To measure subalternity and agency within narratives.
  5. To assess postcolonial identity according to the the notions of mimicry, hybridity, and ambivalence.
