ILT is a Fundamental Teaching Unit (FTU) and it stands for Initiation to Literary Texts. It is an introduction to English literature, its history and importance in the learning process for *first year licence students*. It starts with a simple introduction to the subject; then, it gives an idea about the main literary movements and some famous writers and works. It also deals with the literary genres, elements and techniques which are necessary to analyze literary works. Learners then are exposed to the two literary genres for the sake of analysis starting with poetry then moving to dramatic literary pieces.
